CANNES, France-Mobile entertainment publisher Sorrent Inc. plans to announce an agreement to publish content based on noted urban fashion designer Marc Ecko.
Sorrent will develop a suite of offerings based on Marc Ecko’s Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure, an Atari title for consoles. Atari will team with Sorrent on the project, and the PlayStationR2 and mobile offerings will hit the market simultaneously in September.
Ecko founded his edgy, hip-hop-style clothing line 12 years ago at the age of 20, and has made headlines recently as he segues from street fashion to office attire. Ecko Unlimited racked up sales of more than $400 million in 2003, and generated $600 million more in licensing revenues.
The deal adds yet another licensed brand to Sorrent’s stable, which includes Twentieth Century Fox and Fox Sports as well as a handful of console- and PC-based titles.
“In recent years, the mobile phone has become an integral part of today’s youth lifestyle,” said Ecko. “Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure was conceived as a means of sharing the unique form of self-expression made possible through graffiti, and Atari’s partnership with Sorrent extends this immersive experience by allowing people to take it with them wherever they go.
