Sprint enhances picture-messaging service

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.-Sprint PCS Picture Mail subscribers can manage photos taken from both digital cameras and cell phones with an enhancement to the carrier’s imaging service.

With the new offering, users can upload pictures from their computers to their accounts on the Picture Mail Web site, which is powered by LightSurf. Once uploaded, the photos can be shared via e-mail or can be sent to a PCS Vision phone, where they can be used as screensavers. Customers also can order professional prints of any digital images stored in their online albums.

“For the digital imaging industry, this also demonstrates Sprint’s commitment to drive further mobile imaging adoption and another step toward creating an end-to-end visual communication solution,” said Tony Henning, managing editor of the Mobile Imaging Report.

Sprint PCS Vision Pictures Pack is offered at $15 a month in addition to regular Sprint subscription fees, allowing customers to take, upload, send and preserve an unlimited number of photos.
