CDG boasts of growth in India

COSTA MESA, Calif.-The CDMA subscriber base in India has increased more than 500 percent to 14 million users since December 2002, according to the CDMA Development Group.

CDMA market share in the country grew from 2 percent to 25 percent during the same time period, said CDG. The country’s total wireless penetration increased from 10 million at the end of 2002 to 45 million in 2004. The telecom market in India was opened in 2003.

CDG said there are six CDMA “limited mobility” carriers operating in India.
