SHERMAN OAKS, Calif.-On-demand mobile TV provider GoTV announced a hip-hop themed video offering for wireless subscribers.
Dubbed PurePhat, the channel will deliver industry news, music and special programs centered on urban themes. The content adds to GoTV’s portfolio, which includes content from ABC News, FoxSports and The Weather Channel and will be available April 1 through Sprint PCS, Cingular Wireless and Nextel.
“Hip-hop is integral to American and global culture,” said Elizabeth Brooks, GoTV’s senior vice president. “As a full-service mobile television network, we’re thrilled to serve the community and to bring the best and newest of rap, hip-hop and urban culture to our mobile offering.”
Meanwhile, game publisher In-Fusio announced a deal to produce titles based on TV shows “The Munsters” and “Battlestar Galactica.” The partnership with Universal Studios Consumer Products Group includes rights to produce ringtones, games and logos from the shows, and In-Fusio said it expects to release its first branded offerings later this year.
“The mobile-gaming market has seen an impressive growth over the past 12 months due to advances in technology and improved playability,” said Juergen Goeldner, In-Fusio’s executive vice president of publishing. “The combination of our publishing power and the popularity of the Universal brands should result in great gains for both companies.”
