NEW ORLEANS-Cingular Wireless today announced at CTIA Wireless 2005 that it now has 50 million customers.
“Attaining 50 million customers is a key indicator that our merger with AT&T Wireless is working and working robustly,” said Stan Sigman, Cingular’s president and chief executive officer. “Fifty million customers, which is over 3 million more than we had as of Oct. 1 of last year, means that nearly three of every 10 current U.S. wireless subscribers are now Cingular customers. Yet we strive to treat each and every one of our customers as an individual person or business.”
In addition, Cingular said it serves 95 of the Fortune 100 companies and counts more than 80 percent of the Fortune 500 and more than 1,200 federal, state, and local government agencies as customers.
Meanwhile, Deutsche Bank Securities reiterated its “hold” ratings on Cingular parents BellSouth and SBC Communications, saying the growing customer base of the companies’ Cingular joint venture is encouraging, but declining average revenue per user and margins remain concerns.
