FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.-Technology holding company Ener1 Group said it has acquired Russia’s largest producer of wireless and console video games.
Ener1 added Moscow’s Nival Interactive L.L.C. to its portfolio, saying it will integrate the publisher’s 140-employee development studio with Ener1’s U.S.-based video game operations. Nival founder and Chief Executive Officer Sergey Orlovskiy was named president of the new company, called Nival Inc.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The integrated company will develop games for wireless devices as well as home consoles Xbox 2 and PlayStation 3. Ener1 also said it will use the acquisition to tap the Japanese gaming market.
“This partnership provides both our companies with the optimal solution for accomplishing our mutual goals,” Orlovskiy said.
