PARIS-ADP Telecom announced it has begun WiMAX trials and has signed a partnership agreement with Alcatel to produce pilot products for professional use in collaboration with its customers Aeroports de Paris and WFS.
ADP will manage the pilots, and Alcatel will provide equipment for the trials.
“Setting up this pilot for Aeroports de Paris will highlight the advantages of WiMAX for professionals working in dense-traffic airport areas by immediately taking into account the fixed and nomadic aspects of WiMAX,” said Sylvie Richir, head of broadband wireless access activities at Alcatel. “It also demonstrates the importance of an approach that couples the operator market with the vertical markets for rapid development of WiMAX and initially meets the needs of professional users.”
