Sprint wins contract with Georgia

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.-Sprint Corp. said it was awarded a one-year contract by the Georgia Technology Authority to provide wireless voice and data services to state and local government agencies.

The contract includes access to Sprint’s PCS Business Connection Enterprise Edition, which provides users with secure wireless access to their agencies’ e-mail systems from select Web-enabled handsets, smart phones and laptop computers; Sprint’s PCS Data Link, which provides access to users’ intranet, databases, applications, shared files and Internet; and Sprint’s PCS ReadyLink push-to-talk service.

Financial terms of the contract were not released.

The state of Georgia has recently announced several technology contracts with wireless operators, including a deal with SouthernLinc last month and Nextel Communications Inc. earlier this year.
