Signal Reach

National Cellular and Signal Reach introduced a new antenna coupler the companies said can attach to any mobile phone and improve the phone’s signal reception. The coupler attaches to the phone with Velcro and then can be plugged into an external antenna or cellular amplifier. Signal Reach said its product works with any phone, rather than just phones with external RF ports. National Cellular is an authorized master distributor for Signal Reach products. www.ncicellular.com

Renesas

Renesas Technology Corp. released details about its Mobile Videophone Middleware Package software. The new product adds video conferencing capability to the company’s SH-Mobile series of application processors. The software, which includes echo-canceller and noise-suppression functions, conforms to the 3G-324M third-generation mobile-phone audiovisual communications standard. The software is scheduled to be available in May. www.renesas.com

COLED

COLED Technologies Inc. announced a new display technology that the company said could eventually replace liquid crystal displays. The company said it uses electrode modification to improve the charge injection characteristics of the electrodes used in the construction of organic light emitting diode devices. The new approach increases efficiency of small molecule fluorescent OLED and light emitting polymer-based technologies, said the company. The new technology will be targeted at the smart phone, flat panel and handheld personal computer markets.

Wireless Valley

Wireless Valley Communications said it has enhanced its SitePlanner and EnterprisePlanner products. The new functionality adds cdmaOne, W-CDMA, UMTS and CDMA2000 third-generation capabilities. Key new features include the ability to simulate CDMA signal quality, mobile traffic, cell breathing, uplink and downlink connections, power control and pilot pollution; model pilot, traffic and overhead channels; perform network performance visualizations; and model the interaction between indoor and outdoor networks to create optimized handoff regions. The SitePlanner product allows companies to design, measure and manage all of their indoor and campuswide wireless networks. EnterprisePlanner provides the same functions with the addition of wireless local area network design capability. www.wirelessvalley.com

M-Wise

M-Wise Inc. said it has enhanced its content management and delivery platform with the Audio and Video Album. The Audio and Video Album allows users to send audio and video clips, including pictures taken with a mobile camera, to other mobile users or e-mail accounts. Users also can view pictures and download audio and video clips on a personalized photo album Web portal and directly browse their albums on their mobile handsets. Enhancements are delivered through the M-Wise carrier-grade MOMA Gateway. www.m-wise.com

Agere

Agere Systems released a portfolio of access solutions along with two new processor chips for wireline and wireless service providers. The company said its TrueAdvantage solutions will allow providers to reduce product development costs and accelerate equipment deliveries for converged access solutions. Agere said the TrueAdvantage access solutions consist of five inter-related elements: feature-rich networking chips; robust software development tools; integrated hardware development systems; proven reference designs developed with global access equipment manufacturers; and turnkey application software. The Advanced PayloadPlus 300 network processor chip and Link Layer Processor chip are new networking devices that are the first of the line of TrueAdvantage solution elements to be unveiled in detail. www.agere.com
