LAS VEGAS, Nev./PALO ALTO, Calif.-Hewlett-Packard Co. said it will offer an upgrade program to Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 on some HP iPAQ handhelds as well as plans to support the new version of the software platform in its future mobile offerings.
HP iPAQ handhelds with Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 will provide customers with enhanced mobile communication, entertainment and productivity through simpler navigation and access to data, an improved Mobile Office suite, along with a more powerful, integrated multimedia experience.
Microsoft introduced the platform today at Microsoft Mobile and Embedded DevCon 2005 in Las Vegas. As reported last week in RCR Wireless News, Windows Mobile 5.0, code-named Magneto, offers enhanced support for third-generation wireless, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections, one-handed device navigation and other services like push-to-talk.
