BELLEVUE, Wash.-InfoSpace Inc. launched a technology designed to simulate three-dimensional gaming on non-3-D handsets.
The mobile entertainment and Internet search company unveiled the Virtual 3-D Simulator, which uses 3-D models for the playing environment stored as 2-D artwork. InfoSpace said it will begin releasing action and arcade games to support the technology this summer.
“Mobile users love the rich experience of the latest 3-D games, but currently only a small percentage of high-end handsets are capable of supporting 3-D mobile games,” said Steven Hoffman, executive producer of InfoSpace’s Atlas Studio.
