SANTA CLARA, Calif.-A Delaware jury awarded Lucent Technologies Inc. $274,990 in damages in the company’s patent battle with Extreme Networks. The jury ruled Extreme Networks violated one of Lucent’s patents.
However, Extreme Networks claimed a victory in the situation, pointing out that it defeated infringement claims on four out of five patents.
“We view this as a total victory, particularly in light of the fact that Lucent initially demanded payment of tens of millions of dollars.” said Gordon Stitt, president and chief executive officer of Extreme Networks.
The verdict comes after nearly two years of litigation. However, Extreme Networks said it expects continued appeals and hearings in the case.
