Volantis teams with Bango on mobile content portals

LONDON-Content provider Volantis has teamed with Bango to develop mobile portals offering mobile content directly to consumers.

The companies unveiled a portal for Channel 4, a U.K. TV broadcaster, featuring show information, polls, contests and downloadable content. The service will come online Friday, coinciding with the premiere of the hit reality show “Big Brother.”

Bango and Volantis hope to offer the mobile Internet sites to brands looking to market their wares directly to consumers via wireless devices.

“Brand owners are now choosing proven, reliable platforms to implement their mobile services rather than carrying out bespoke development work,” said Ray Anderson, Bango’s chief executive officer.
