NEW YORK-Verizon Communications Inc. launched a new voice messaging service in parts of the Northeast that will send text message alerts to Verizon Wireless phones when messages are left in subscribers’ home or business wireline voice mailboxes.
The service is currently available to Verizon voice-messaging customers in New England and New York City who also have Verizon Wireless digital service. Verizon added that customers will not be charged for the text message alerts sent to their wireless handsets.
