FRAMINGHAM, Mass.-The babysitting potential of cell phones is largely being undervalued by the industry, according to a new report from consultant firm IDC.
Mobile video programming for children that can effectively placate and entertain youngsters is quickly gaining traction, IDC said Thursday. Verizon Wireless has reported unexpectedly high interest in its Vcast “Sesame Street” downloads, according to the firm, indicating a relatively untapped market for such premium content.
“I have offered my own Vcast phone and service to parents of young children at airports and on airplanes, with a near 100-percent success rate at tears and tantrum avoidance,” said Scott Ellison, an IDC program director.
