LITTLE ROCK, Ark.-Alltel has begun offering the BlackBerry 7250 through its retail locations, the carrier said Friday.
Alltel, which began offering the device through its business channels earlier this year, said it is selling the BlackBerry for $300 with a two-year contract and $360 with a one-year agreement. Unlimited data service is $45 a month for subscribers who add a voice plan; data-only service is $50 a month.
The Bluetooth-enabled device supports voice, e-mail, text messaging, and Web and corporate data applications.
To support the retail expansion, Alltel said it is offering BlackBerry Internet service for personal and small business accounts. The service allows users to access up to 10 corporate or personal accounts, including Microsoft Exchange, IBM, Lotus Domino and others from a single device.
“BlackBerry users will benefit from peak speeds of 144 kilobits per second when browsing the Internet on their device,” said Frank O’Mara, Alltel’s executive vice president of marketing.
