SUNNYVALE, Calif.-Mobile computing innovator palmOne Inc. officially became Palm Inc. today, trading on the Nasdaq under ticker symbol PALM. The company announced in late May that it had acquired rights to the Palm brand after buying shares of the brand controlled at that time by PalmSource Inc.
Palm’s new name and logo will show up on its three product lines this fall. The company sells handheld computers, smart phones and mobile managers, Palm’s newest mobile computing product.
“I’m confident we’ll build our momentum even faster now that we can use the same term consumers and business people have always used for our products,” said Ed Colligan, Palm president and chief executive.
