Chinese infrastructure firm eyes U.S. market

NEW YORK-Telestone Technologies Corp., a Chinese wireless infrastructure supplier, said it will “explore and evaluate” expanding into the U.S. market. TST said it will open a California office during the fourth quarter and begin researching the possibility of forming partnerships with other infrastructure companies.

“This is a strategic decision aimed at expanding our growth opportunities,” said Han Daqing, president and chief executive of TST. “We believe the U.S. wireless market remains underpenetrated from a coverage perspective. Consequently, there may be opportunities for us to participate with our global partners in the continued U.S. buildout of 3G services, as well as in other areas in which our technological and research capabilities may apply.”

TST is one of four major suppliers for China’s wireless carriers, China Mobile and China Unicom. The company is also partnering with China Ericsson to develop third-generation products for use in China, Southeast Asia and India.
