Emblaze buys mobile-video firm

RA’ANANA, Israel-Technology company Emblaze Ltd. announced it acquired video-communications company VCON Ltd., which is based in Israel. Emblaze said it will continue to offer VCON’s mobile-video solutions to its customers, which include Renault in France, the Italian government, Wind Telecommunications SpA in Italy, Telstra Corp. in Australia and others.

Interestingly, Emblaze said the acquisition does not involve any cash and will not impact its cash position, revenue and profit forecasts for the current year. Further, it will not result in any dilution of Emblaze shareholders’ interests.

“This acquisition is another major step by Emblaze to leverage its world-class IP and wireless technologies for delivering rich content to address new fast-growing markets,” said Guy Bernstein, Emblaze’s chief finance officer. “We are confident that the merged business, spearheaded by Emblaze, will create significant shareholder value.”

Emblaze said it would offer VCON’s technologies in combination with its other business. Emblaze oversees a variety of operations, including handset design company Emblaze Mobile, content transcoding company Adamind, video provider Visual Defence and interactive TV company Orca Interactive.
