SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.-Destinator Technologies Inc. marked its entry into the North American market this week, opening its U.S. headquarters in Scottsdale, Ariz. The expansion coincides with the company raising $9 million in its B round of funding, bringing the total amount of capital raised to $17 million.
Participating in the round were a number of leading institutional investors.
The company provides navigation software exclusively through channels and has a presence in Europe, Israel, the Asia Pacific and now North America. Destinator expects to ship more than 1 million units of product this year compared with 300,000 units last year.
In North America, the company’s personal navigation software is available through Mio Technology Ltd. and Orient Power. It also has mapping partnerships with Navteq Corp. and TeleAtlas N.V.
Destinator plans to unveil a new generation of its navigation software for mobile users in September at the DEMOfall 2005 conference in California.
