NEW YORK-Virgin Mobile USA Inc. announced an exclusive deal to bring content from alternative rockers the Gorillaz to wireless.
The operator launched ringtones, realtones and wallpapers from the band’s platinum album “Demon Days” through Virgin Mobile’s First Dibs program. Wallpapers include “signature graphics” from members of the band, which uses animation in its videos and marketing materials.
Ringtones based on four tracks from the album will be available only to Virgin Mobile users through September.
“The Gorillaz’ unique music and vision are ideal for innovations in mobile music,” said Syd Schwartz, vice president of interactive marketing for Virgin Records. “The collaboration with Virgin Mobile is a natural, and we look forward to mutual success spreading the music of Gorillaz across traditional and new mediums.”
