Sprint Nextel Corp. added a third music service to its offerings, launching 20 channels of streaming audio from Sirius Satellite Radio Inc.
The No. 2 pay-radio service is powering Sirius Music, which includes 19 channels of pop, rock, hip-hop, country, jazz and electronica. The service also includes one channel of artist interviews and performances.
Sprint Nextel also offers streaming audio from digital music supplier Music Choice and mobile music startup MSpot. The Sirius launch makes good on a deal announced between the two companies in June.
“One of our goals is to make this unique content available to as many Sprint PCS Vision customers as we can, over as many multimedia devices as possible,” Scott Greenstein, Sirius’ president of entertainment and sports, said in June.
