FRAMINGHAM, Mass.-NMS Communications, a mobile applications solution developer, reached a deal with Ericsson Inc. to supply its Vision Media Server. NMS said its carrier-grade servers allow enhanced capabilities to be deployed in converged infrastructure and in all-Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem network architecture and are compatible with Session Initiation Protocol and Voice over Internet Protocol.
“Customers with different applications require different media server protocols, densities and form factors,” said Brian Partridge, senior analyst at Yankee Group. NMS’s Vision Media Server is designed with the recognition that a ‘one product fits all’ model for media servers does not suit the market.
“The open platform invites customers to evolve their solutions to meet their specific applications needs, whether for speech, video, conferencing, music or multimedia messaging. NMS has filled a void in the market by creating an application-ready media server that can be deployed in support of both legacy and next-generation IP-based network architectures.”
NMS said the new servers will begin shipping in October.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
