VANCOUVER, British Columbia-Sierra Wireless Inc. announced commercial availability of its MC5720 PCI Express Mini Card wireless module for CDMA 1x EV-DO networks.
The company said the module, which is built using Qualcomm Inc.’s MSM6500 Mobile Station Modem chipset, is the first product in the PCI Express Mini Card product line. It is designed to integrate into portable computing devices and offers typical download data rates of 400 to 700 kilobits per second with peak speeds of up to 2.4 megabits per second.
Lenovo and Sierra Wireless have worked together to include the MC5720 module on select models of the ThinkPad Z60t and Z60m notebooks, which are due in October.
