Wis. TV station offers local mobile TV news

DENVER-Interactive mobile media company U-Turn is partnering with a Wisconsin television station to deliver local video news to wireless users.

WISC-TV of Madison will offer access to video content including weather, sports and breaking news through “Wisconsin Mobile,” slated to launch through several carriers later this month. U-Turn will power the service with a customizable, nonWAP technology that enables content providers to manage large quantities of content and allows real-time management.

“We sell a platform that is very content-centric and that allows content owners to create their own applications on mobile phones,” said Izzy Abbass, president of U-Turn’s North American business. “We strongly believe that local content will be one of the biggest drivers of mobile services, and are very pleased to be working with innovative stations like WISC-TV who see this as both a valuable community service and an effective brand extension.”
