M-commerce software developer Valista has teamed with Motricity Inc. to develop a mobile retail platform for operators and content providers.
The offering couples Valista’s transaction and content packaging technology with Fuel, Motricity’s content delivery platform. The companies said the platform is designed to address the entire value chain, including offer management, content delivery, payment processing, multi-party settlement and post-purchase care.
The product also includes a community-building component.
“Offering new ways to deliver and purchase content and multiple ways to pay will generate additional revenues for mobile operators and media companies globally,” said Ryan Wuerch, Motricity’s chairman and chief executive officer.
Motricity’s news, which will be unveiled today, comes on the heels of Motorola Inc.’s announcement Tuesday of its new mobile retailing technology. The handset manufacturer has partnered with developer July Systems Inc. to build the Integrated Mobile Marketplace, which can support subscription, rentals, pay-per-use and free-trial models.
Motorola also participated in July’s $10 million third round of funding, although the company declined to disclose details of its investment.
“July is an outstanding addition to our portfolio of technology investments,” said Warren Holtsberg, corporate vice president of equity investments for Motorola. “This winning combination of highly complementary technology solutions will provide customers with the unique ability to dynamically deliver advanced applications to their subscribers.”
