Rick Kimsey joined Cable & Wireless as the company’s new chief executive officer for the Caribbean. In addition, Leonardo de Barros, the current chief operating officer for the Caribbean, will consolidate his activities into his roles as chairman of Cable & Wireless Jamaica and Cable & Wireless Panama and board member of TSTT, Trinidad and Tobago, of which Cable & Wireless holds a 49-percent stake.

SK-EarthLink appointed Matias Duarte as vice president of experience design, where he will be responsible for creating a fresh user experience across all consumer products and services introduced under SK-EarthLink’s new mobile virtual network operator service. Prior to joining the company, Duarte was director of design at Danger Inc., where he participated in the design of the company’s Hiptop wireless device.

Bruce Blain, vice president of NEC’s Radio Communications Systems Division, has been elected to the National Spectrum Managers Association board of directors.
Openwave
Openwave Systems Inc. named Jody Bilney chief marketing officer. She joins the company from The Charles Schwab Corp., where she held the same position. Prior to that Bilney was senior vice president in charge of brand management and marketing communications at Verizon Communications Inc. and president of Verizon’s Consumer Markets enterprise.
American Tower
American Tower Corp. said Stephen Clark has stepped down from the company’s board of directors. He previously was president and chief executive officer of SpectraSite, which was acquired by American Tower in August. The board now consists of nine members.
Integration Associates
Fabless semiconductor company Integration Associates named Rafael Fried vice president and general manager of the company’s wireless business unit. Fried will lead the company’s efforts to develop and promote its growing portfolio of wireless integrated circuits for low data rate communications. Most recently, Fried was vice president of RF Technologies at DSP Group.
Dilithium
Jim Hamblin joined Dilithium Networks as regional director for Northern Europe with responsibility for managing the company’s U.K., Ireland and Scandinavian markets. He joins the company from Ericsson, where he was a senior account manager working with U.K. mobile operators.
DAT Group
DAT Group plc, which develops software solutions for mobile device management and synchronization, appointed Carsten Brinkschulte as chief executive officer. Brinkschulte founded Synchronica GmbH in January 2004. Synchronica was acquired by DAT earlier this year. The company also announced a management restructuring. Bruce Eley was appointed chief sales officer; Nicole Meissner was appointed chief marketing officer; Allan Jonnes was named chief financial officer; Terry Page was appointed chief operations officer; and Tim Carmichael returned to the role of group chief technical officer.

Sendmail appointed Carol Stone vice president of worldwide marketing and John Stormer senior vice president of worldwide marketing.
SpectraLink
SpectraLink Corp. named Masood Garahi executive vice president of engineering and chief technology officer. Garahi most recently served as chairman and chief executive officer of MeshNetworks.
Tropos
Tropos Networks Inc. named Saar Gillai vice president of engineering where he will be responsible for continued development of the company’s MetroMesh router and network management product line. Gillai most recently was vice president of engineering for Cisco Systems Inc.’s wireless networking business unit. Prior to that he held management positions at Newbridge Networks. In addition, Chris Rittler has assumed the newly created position of vice president of business development at Tropos. Rittler previously was vice president of product development.
NetMotion
NetMotion Wireless appointed Tom Johnston senior vice president of product and marketing. Most recently, <?xml:namespace prefix = st1

Johnston was managing director of Alexander Hutton Venture Partners, which is an investor in NetMotion. He also has held senior marketing positions with Microsoft Corp.
Actix
Actix named Richard Evans general manager for the company’s U.S. operations. He will oversee Actix’ customer relationships including most U.S. wireless operators and network infrastructure vendors. Evans joins the company from Openet Telecom where he was head of the company’s Americas operations.
First Avenue
Mike Gallagher has joined First Avenue Networks as its new president and chief executive officer, replacing Dean Johnson, who will remain on First Avenue’s board of directors as vice chairman. Gallagher most recently was president of Flarion Technologies, which was acquired by Qualcomm Inc.
