FORT WORTH, Texas-RadioShack Corp., which sells wireless products and services from Verizon Wireless, Sprint Nextel Corp. and Tracfone Wireless Inc., reported a 15-percent increase in wireless sales during the third quarter that the company attributed to growth in its kiosk channels offsetting a sales decline in traditional stores. RadioShack operates more than 700 wireless kiosks and announced deals last year to operate kiosk locations for Sprint Corp. and in Sam’s Club locations.
Analysts noted that RadioShack’s Verizon Wireless sales suffered during the third quarter due to a lack of desirable handsets. RadioShack also signed a 10-year deal earlier this year with Cingular Wireless L.L.C. to replace Verizon Wireless in its retail locations beginning next year.
