DENVER-Symbol Technologies and Menusoft Digital Dining are teaming to help the Comedy Works sell drinks.
The Denver nightclub, which had struggled to deliver drinks prior to the start of twice- and three-times-nightly shows, equipped its servers with Symbol PPT8800 handheld devices. The mobile computers allow orders to be taken and sent directly from the table to the kitchen and bar via PC terminals.
The handsets also allow credit card transactions to be securely completed at customer tables with a card swipe feature.
“With a very short window of time to serve customers and capture food and beverage revenue, we are always looking for innovative solutions to improve processes,” said Wende Curtis, owner of Comedy Works. “Since deploying (the service in March), our wait staff is more productive, our process is more efficient and food and beverage sales have increased more than 10 percent.”
Comedy Works plans to use the offering at a New York City location slated to open next spring and a second Denver business that will open in 2007.
