Samsung unveils CDMA core network for U.S.

DALLAS-Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. unveiled a CDMA core network solution for the United States that includes a wireless softswitch and a media gateway.

The company said it expects the product to be commercially available to U.S. carriers early next year.

The solution is a next-generation mobile switching center that supports an open architecture operating system and shares a common server platform for W-CDMA, CDMA, wireline and IMS server applications, said the company. The solution also supports voice mail, short message service, push-to-talk and ring-back tones.

The company’s WSS supports SIP, VoiceXML and Megaco and its IMS supports Voice over Internet Protocol, multimedia conferencing, networked gaming, location-based services, instant messaging and IP-TV.
