Nordic carrier TeliaSonera said it will test its fixed and mobile telephony initiatives using L.M. Ericsson’s Unlicensed Mobile Access technology in Sweden. The carrier is conducting similar tests in Denmark with Motorola Inc. TeliaSonera said the aim of the tests is to gradually introduce an integrated mobile and Internet Protocol-based telephony solution that will allow customers to use a single wireless handset for both mobile and fixed calls. Ericsson said its Mobile@Home solution turns mobile phones into IP phones in users’ homes. Users can place calls in their home using a fixed broadband network that can then automatically and seamlessly switch to a mobile network when they leave the home.
