Verizon, Virgin expand sales channels

BEDMINSTER, N.J.-Verizon Wireless inked a deal to operate kiosks in more than 100 BJ’s Wholesale Club Inc. locations, the carrier said Monday.

Verizon will sell wireless phones and services through the kiosks, and subscribers can check their accounts and pay bills at the locations. BJ’s operates warehouse clubs and gas stations in 16 northeast states.

“The customers walking into BJ’s are the same people who want Verizon Wireless service,” said John Colaiuti, Verizon’s vice president of national distribution.

Meanwhile, Virgin Mobile USA L.L.C. is expanding on its relationship with 7-Eleven Inc. The prepaid services provider said it will distribute its offerings through 5,300 of the convenience store’s locations.

“The Virgin brand is synonymous with youth, appealing to a generation of text messengers and cell phone talkers,” said Kevin Elliott, 7-Eleven’s vice president of merchandising. “”The mobile prepaid phones should do well in our stores.”
