PALO ALTO, Calif.-Nokia Corp. has added a mobile search service by 4INFO Inc. to its U.S.-based Mobile Search Application. Starting tomorrow,Nokia handset users can download the application and use it to query local U.S. directory listings, real-time sports scores, player statistics, detailed movie show times and reviews, and local weather forecasts through 4INFO’s free plug-in.
The Nokia Mobile Search Application will come embedded on phones starting in the first quarter of 2006 and will be available for download to all Nokia Series 60 phones. The application uses a collection of mobile search providers for various aspects of the service in each country, allowing users to access the best search engines across different search categories. In the U.S., this includes 4INFO and Yahoo.
“Nokia has selected 4INFO for its combination of accurate and personalized results, giving users the power to access the information they want at any time and from anywhere,” said Pankaj Shah, chief executive officer of 4INFO.
4INFO’s services are available free of charge to users on all major U.S. carriers.
