Razr, Sidekick top holiday wish lists, Compete finds

BOSTON-Motorola Inc.’s Razr phone and Danger Inc.’s Sidekick II will find their way into more Christmas stockings this year than other devices.

The Razr and the Sidekick II top holiday shopping lists this season, according to new research from Compete Inc. The company noted consumers want “cool” phones with popular features like Bluetooth and music this year, and they are willing to pay for them.

Of the 10 most-shopped-for devices online this year-which include three from Motorola, two each from Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and Nokia Corp., and one each from Danger, UTStarcom Inc. and LG Electronics Co. Ltd.-none are offered free, said Compete.

In addition, Compete noted Web promotions have helped drive demand for certain models. Nearly three-quarters of shoppers research phones online before buying, said Compete.

Personalization options and distinct branding also figure into demand for certain models this holiday season, said the company.
