Ericsson supplies mobile TV services to Swiss carrier

STOCKHOLM, Sweden-L.M. Ericsson and Swiss operator Sunrise announced they’ve signed a partnership agreement to launch mobile TV services in Switzerland and plan to offer sports, entertainment and news video clips on demand, along with 24 live local and international channels. In addition, Ericsson said Sunrise is also launching Ericsson’s mobile TV channel selector, which the company says helps consumers easily change channels while watching TV on their phones.

Ericsson explained that its three-year managed services hosting contract with Sunrise is based on a revenue- and risk-sharing model and includes systems integration, operation and maintenance of the service, as well as content aggregation with some of Ericsson’s partners.

In Switzerland, Sunrise counts more than 2.2 million customers for its nationwide GSM network and is the brand name of TDC Switzerland A.G., which is owned by The TDC Group.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
