Nortel taps former GE executive as VP

TORONTO-Nortel Networks Ltd. named former General Electric Co. executive Don McKenna as its new vice president of Global Manufacturing Services.

Nortel said McKenna will play a “pivotal” role in transforming the company’s supply chain as he oversees all aspects of manufacturing services, from materials and supply management to supply chain product management, hardware quality and logistics.

McKenna’s appointment comes as no real surprise. Nortel’s new chief executive, Mike Zafirovski, is himself a former GE executive, and has already appointed another former GE executive, Joel Hackney, as vice president of Global Supply Chain and Quality.

McKenna spent 40 years working for GE, serving in several leadership positions.
