Syniverse names new CEO

TAMPA, Fla.-Syniverse Technologies Inc., which provides wireless clearing and settlement services to cellular carriers, tapped Tony Holcombe to lead the company.

Holcombe, who has served on the Syniverse board of directors since March 2003, was named president and chief executive officer of the company. Prior to joining Syniverse, Holcombe served concurrently as president of both Emdeon Corp.-formerly WebMD-and president of Emdeon Business Services.

Syniverse’s former CEO, Edward Evans, resigned his position and has agreed to serve as chairman of Syniverse’s board of directors until the company’s 2007 annual stockholders meeting. According to Syniverse, Evans will focus on company strategy, customer and industry relations and mergers and acquisitions through the end of this year.
