SCHAUMBURG, Ill.-Motorola Inc. announced it invested an undisclosed sum in Global Locate Inc., a privately-held GPS semiconductor, software and services provider.
“Global Locate is a compelling addition to our portfolio of cutting-edge technology investments,” said Warren Holtsberg, corporate vice president of equity investments for Motorola. “Global Locate’s technology is highly complementary with Motorola’s vision of seamless mobility and we are pleased to support the company with this strategic investment.”
Founded in 1999, Global Locate provides Assisted GPS technology to the wireless industry. Headquartered in San Jose, Calif., the company has sales offices in New York, Tokyo, Taipei and Madrid.
Motorola invests in a wide array of companies, including security vendor Bluefire Security Technologies, directory company 422 and wireless marketing company GoldPocket.
