SAN DIEGO-Sky MobileMedia Inc., which provides mobile applications software platforms for wireless handsets, said it closed on $15 million of series B financing.
Sid R. Bass Associates led the round. Previous investor Enterprise Partners Venture Capital also participated.
Sky MobileMedia said it plans to use the funds to expand its global customer support, third-party partner programs, field applications engineering and sales activities.
The company said it has raised more than $21 million to date.
Sky MobileMedia also announced it has named Ake Persson chairman of its board of directors. Persson has three decades of telecom industry experience, most recently as president of L.M. Ericsson’s CDMA Systems Business Unit and president of Ericsson Wireless Communications Inc.
In other funding news, mobile office company Quickoffice Inc. announced $11.5 million in private equity financing.
