WASHINGTON-The FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau Wednesday started its annual examination of the wireless market.
Comments are due Feb. 17 with replies due March 6.
The Federal Communications Commission is required by Congress to annually submit a report on competition in the commercial mobile radio services market.
As part of its examination, the wireless bureau is scheduled to examine the wireless market structure, carrier conduct, consumer behavior and market performance.
The market-structure analysis focuses on how easy it is for new carriers to enter the wireless arena.
Carriers are being asked to submit the coverage maps they make available to customers, along with other coverage information.
The carrier-conduct analysis focuses on price competition, capital expenditures and an evaluation of technology upgrades.
The wireless bureau is also expected to examine the state of wireline vs. wireless competition.
