ROCKVILLE, Md.-Performance analysis systems provider Spirent Communications plc announced it will buy SwissQual AG for $70.5 million in cash.
SwissQual develops wireless testing and measurement technology for service providers. The products are for service providers to troubleshoot networks and improve wireless service performance.
Spirent said that while the acquisition will enhance its portfolio of wireless test and measurement solutions, it also opens up a new business segment: subscriber experience management. Subscriber experience management measures the quality of a wireless subscriber’s experience and service-from a user’s perspective. The company said the “user-focused” perspective also favorably positions Spirent for growing its business in testing mobile video applications as well as wireless services and handsets.
SwissQual is based in Switzerland and employs about 80 people.
