DataPath acquires Third Rail

DULUTH, Ga.-Systems integration company DataPath Inc. announced it acquired wireless broadband company Third Rail Americas Inc. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

DataPath said the acquisition would allow it to add a terrestrial wireless component to its satellite offerings.

“Organizations communicating in unpredictable environments require the flexibility of voice, data and Internet access across both satellite and wireless terrestrial networks,” said Andy Mullins, chief executive officer of DataPath. “We’ve heard our customers’ needs for solutions that enable quick set-up and extended reach for vital communications. Our acquisition of new wireless capabilities helps us support our customers’ dynamic requirements. This is the latest step in DataPath’s continuing growth from a leading systems integration company to an innovative communications solution provider that helps our customers solve mission-critical communications challenges.”

DataPath said Third Rail’s technology will allow it to combine satellite and wireless network capabilities for direct communications links between remote sites and command centers via flexible wireless point-to-point and point-to-multipoint solutions.

DataPath is a global telecommunications systems integrator specializing in satellite earth terminals and network solutions.
