NEW YORK-Comverse Technology Inc. hopes to boost text messaging with a series of new personalized services.
The services include an offering that allows members to insert a predetermined signature at the end of messages, and a “private network” wherein members use shortened four-digit codes instead of full phone numbers to exchange messages. Other new Comverse services for text messaging fans include auto-reply, one-to-many and automatic forwarding.
The company also launched a service that would give users discounts for selling the unused space at the end of their text messages to advertisers.
Comverse plans to showcase the new services at 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, next week.
“The new SMS Personal options make SMS more functional and better in tune with user needs for self-expression,” said Benny Einhorn, chief marketing officer at Comverse. “This brings a competitive edge that can translate into increased customer satisfaction and greater revenues.”
