FT. MYERS, Fla.-NeoMedia Technologies Inc. announced it purchased Munich-based mobile marketing company 12snap AG for $22 million in cash and shares. The announcement comes just days after NeoMedia announced it acquired visual search company Mobot for $10 million.
NeoMedia said the acquisitions will help the company push its PaperClick offering. NeoMedia’s PaperClick technology delivers Internet-based information to wireless devices. Using the company’s technology, consumers can take pictures of barcodes or enter brand names into their mobile phone and be automatically connected to product-related Web sites.
A variety of other companies, including Nextcode, Scanbuy, Semacode, OP3 and others, offer similar services.
“We are confident that PaperClick will be embraced by consumer goods and services companies in many industries all over the world,” said Martin Copus, NeoMedia’s chief operating officer and head of the company’s PaperClick wireless business unit.
PaperClick is not NeoMedia’s only business effort. The company oversees a variety of operations, including an IT integration business and a painting business.
