ADC acquires muni Wi-Fi vendor G-Connect

MINNEAPOLIS—ADC Telecommunications Inc. announced it acquired Israeli start-up G-Connect, a developer and manufacturer of systems that serve large and medium-sized Internet service providers.

G-Connect’s IP service gateway system is used in high-speed Internet access networks and is specifically designed for managing IP traffic in municipal Wi-Fi networks, the company said.

“The SG-1 IP Services Gateway is an integral part of ADC’s IP services delivery solutions product portfolio,” stated Mike Pratt, president of the Active Infrastructure Business Unit for ADC. “The addition of this gateway platform and the G-Connect staff demonstrates our continued commitment to providing advanced IP-based solutions for our customers.”

G-Connect has14 employees and was a subsidiary of Teledata Communications.

ADC provides connections for wired, wireless, broadcast and enterprise networks around the world.

The purchase price was not disclosed.
