Cingular, Qpass extend m-commerce pact

ATLANTA—Cingular Wireless L.L.C. and Qpass extended an agreement for Qpass to provide its mobile-commerce platform to the carrier, according to the companies.

Qpass is a mobile-commerce solutions company that sells technology that enables the downloading and billing of content. Essentially, Qpass’ offerings allow mobile operators and content providers to outsource the management of their digital content stores.

The companies’ original agreement was penned more than five years ago. Qpass said it currently supports Cingular’s merchant management, offer management, promotions management, payments, customer care, financial reporting and settlement functions. Specifically, the Qpass solution allows customers to purchase ringtones, graphics, video programming, games and applications through multiple Cingular-branded storefronts and services, including MEdia Net, MEdia Mall, MEdia Net Live Ticker and RealArcade.

Qpass said it also supports Cingular’s off-portal business.
