Mobile data content preference differs by country

READING, U.K.-Britons use mobile phones to keep up with the news, while the Chinese want to know the weather report. According to a recent poll, 70 percent of Britons download news bulletins and updates, while 76 percent of Chinese view weather forecasts on their phones.

Germany (57 percent) showed the highest interest in mobile games, while Italians (25 percent) were more interested in mobile data services like horoscopes.

In the U.S., the difference between the sexes was most telling: 76 percent of females use mobile data compared to 24 percent of males and American women used mobile data more frequently than all other women polled in the various regions.

The poll, commissioned by SurfKitchen, was answered by 1,000 people in eight different countries.
