Alltel teams with MobiTV for streaming radio

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.—Alltel Corp. said it will offer some of its customers commercial-free music streaming over its CDMA network.

MobiTV Inc. developed the carrier’s new Axcess Radio service. The service initially will be available to customers with Motorola Inc. Razr V3c and Kyocera Wireless Corp. KX5 handsets.

Wade McGill, senior vice president of wireless product management for Alltel, said the carrier expects young customers in particular to be attracted to the service.

The service is offered at $7 per month.

Alltel joins Sprint Nextel Corp. and others in offering radio-style offerings streaming over its network.
