LAS VEGAS—Cingular Wireless said it has added Media Net data options to its GoPhone prepaid wireless offering.
As the wireless market in the United States is reaching saturation, wireless carriers are beginning to embrace the prepaid segment as a way to grow their subscriber bases.

GoPhone Media Net eliminates daily or per-kilobyte rates for prepaid data by giving subscribers a bucket of data minutes, said the company. Other add-ons to Cingular’s ‘Pick Your Plan’ include discounted international calling for $4 a month and voice dialing functions for $5 per month.
“With these additions, Cingular’s GoPhone customers have at their fingertips just about everything a postpaid customer has—with the exception of a long-term contract,” said Glenn Lurie, president of national distribution at Cingular.
