IRVING, Texas—NEC America Inc. said it plans to target the U.S. market with 802.16e-2005 mobile WiMAX equipment.
The company said it plans to release the solution, which includes SOFDMA technology and downlink Partially Utilized Sub-Channels.
The Mobile WiMAX solution can be offered as a full mobile capable platform from the beginning or in a multiphased approach starting with fixed broadband access to complement xDSL and FTTx systems, said NEC. In addition, the company said its solution can serve as an alternative access method for new carriers who later want to migrate to full mobility.
